The exhibit is impressed by Barnard Professor of Africana Research Monica L. Miller’s 2009 ebook Slaves to Style: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identification. In keeping with Vogue, the museum will spotlight “clothes, work, pictures, and extra—all exploring the indelible model of Black males within the context of dandyism, from the 18th-century by current day.” As Marie Claire factors out, it is the first-ever exhibit to focus on dandyism and the affect on model that Black males have held.
